Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, January 8, 2020 – Kazakhstan struggled to defeat Indonesia but claimed a 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-18) win in their second match of the AVC Women’s Tokyo Volleyball Qualification tournament at Chatchai Hall in Nakhon Ratchasima on Wednesday.
Kazakhstan team captain Alessya Safronova: “It was a little stressful as a game. We didn’t have a good start in the first set and then we woke up, came back to our tactics and started to attack. I want to give credit to Indonesia for playing well. They tried their best but fortunately we won the match. Tomorrow we will also have a very tough match as we have to play against Korea. We know they are a good team with good tactics, but we will try our best and fight until the last ball.”
Kazakhstan head coach Burhan Saik Canbolat: “It was an important win for us, but we did not play our best. According to blocking statistics, we lost more. We should have improved more in this kind of game.
“It is going to be a very difficult match against Korea tomorrow. They are a good team and it won’t be easy to beat them. We still have three more games. Tomorrow we will have to give our best and try to win the match in order to top the pool and have a chance to play the second ranked team of another pool in the semifinals. I believe my team will try their best tomorrow.”
Indonesia captain Tri Retno Mutiara Lutfi: “I think we played better than in yesterday’s match against Korea. We played more relaxed and enjoyed the game. Our combination in attacking and blocking defence worked out well today. We are very happy to play here in Thailand and I hope we will gain good experience and improve our game more and more.
“We will play Iran tomorrow and they are in the same level as us. I hope my team will continue playing like this and give their best. I hope we can win tomorrow.”
