In this video, we perform instrumented 0-to-60 and quarter-mile testing on Cadillac’s 2024 Le Mans entry, the Cadillac V-Series.R — and race it against several roadgoing supercars.
Thanks to Balance of Performance (BOP) rules, the Cadillac’s 5.5-liter cross plane-crank, 8800-rpm V-8 is limited in output thanks to a restrictor plate — and its electric hybrid motor is also turned down.
But there are no BOP rules on the road, so the Cadillac team turned the wick all the way up.
Meanwhile, the road cars were vying for a chance to race the Cadillac. The Ferrari 296 GTB with Assetto Fiorano (sport) package comes with Michelin Pilot Cup 2R tires to deal with the 818 hp from its twin-turbo, 120º 3-liter V-6 and electric motors.
The McLaren 720S uses a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter flat-plane-crank V8.
And the rear-engined Porsche 911 sends its 3.7-liter twin-turbo flat-six’s power to all four wheels, with a blazing launch that’ll keep up with a 1500-hp Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport to 60 mph.
But can any of them keep up with a Le Mans car? And what about in a rolling race from the Cadillac’s 60-kph pit-speed limiter? We find out with Le Mans royalty Sébastien Bourdais at the wheel!
