The Kaikoura Mountains are a mountain range in the northeastern part of New Zealand’s South Island. The airspace here experienced a series of disasters in the twentieth century.UFO sightingsthere was even a TV station filming a program for this purpose, recording unknownLuminous bodytraces.
This paranormal phenomenon is known as the “Kaikoura lights” and was first sighted on December 21, 1978. At that time, an Armstrong Whitworth AW.660 Argosy transport aircraft belonging to “Safe Air Ltd” was flying in the airspace. The crew of the cargo plane discovered some strange luminous objects around the aircraft. For the next few minutes, it would follow the plane around, suddenly disappearing without a trace, and then suddenly reappear somewhere else.
According to eyewitness descriptions, the UFO was quite large, and five white flashing light spots were seen on it. Several small disc-shaped objects were released from the UFO and disappeared after falling from it. In the description of the airplane pilot, the lights are all flashing and bright, and the size is not fixed, some are very small, and some are as big as a house. They were not the only ones to spot these UFOs. Air traffic controllers in the capital, Wellington, also spotted the presence of these UFOs on radar.
This incident attracted people’s attention, and the media naturally did not miss this opportunity. In order to make a relevant video, a filming team took a flight to Christchurch on December 30. The journey was tracked by Wellington’s air traffic controllers, who filmed it in color. At that time, the UFO actually appeared. Five staff members saw the unknown light and followed the plane until they landed. The plane later took off again, this time to Blenheim. As their plane climbed to an altitude of 2,000 feet, a giant glowing sphere appeared, which followed the plane for some time.
As the initial sighting reports appeared, a large number of sightings began to appear, and related UFO sighting reports appeared, and related incidents occurred until 2015. The series of sightings prompted the police, the Royal New Zealand Air Force and the Carter Observatory in Wellington to cooperate, and even put a Douglas A-4 Skyhawk subsonic carrier-based light attack aircraft on standby to launch operations against any sightings. The CIA once dispatched a Lockheed P-3 Orion aircraft to the incident area to investigate, saying that these private UFO reports have a large amount of documentary evidence, including tapes, movies, and unusual targets detected by ground and aircraft radars. It is quite unique among the many UFO sightings.
