July 14, 1988: “Yao Bang told me that he did not expect Comrade Xiaoping to be so domineering and intolerant of any different opinions. He actually listened to politics behind a curtain. He regretted using despicable means to bring down Hua Guofeng and support Deng Xiaoping. Yaobang Bang said that the Xidan Democracy Wall was built at the instigation of Deng Xiaoping. The purpose was to discredit Hua Guofeng and allow Deng Xiaoping to come to power. However, he did not expect that after Deng Xiaoping came to power, he sealed the Democracy Wall and put Wei Jingsheng in jail. ”
July 19, 1988: “Yaobang told me that Deng Xiaoping encouraged him to initiate the April 5th Incident in 1976. He had already discussed the ins and outs of the April 5th Incident with the writer Shi Dongbing twice in March and April 1988. The meeting with Shidong Bing was secretly at home, even his family and secretary hid it.
Yaobang told me that on January 15, 1976, after Deng Xiaoping delivered his eulogy at the memorial service of Premier Zhou Enlai, he came to me and said, “I will deliver a eulogy to the Prime Minister today, but maybe no one will give us a eulogy after we die.” We cannot sit still and wait for death, we must take some action. In mid-March, Deng came to me again and said that his children had heard from someone that during the Qingming Festival on April 5, someone decided to go to Tiananmen Square to deliver a wreath to the Prime Minister. This is a good opportunity to find a way to make things bigger and give the chairman a stimulus to prove that not everyone listens to him. Yaobang added, Xiaoping asked me to find a few children of cadres and ask them to go among the workers to agitate and target Jiang Qing and Zhang Chunqiao. But someone pointed the finger at the Chairman, which we did not expect.
In addition, those people engaged in vandalism, smashing and looting, injuring many People’s Liberation Army soldiers. Xiaoping was also very angry later. This was believed to be the direct trigger for his resignation. This is also the reason why we did not rehabilitate the Four and Five in a high-profile manner. Because if those few people didn’t target the chairman and didn’t engage in vandalism and looting, the chairman would never let Xiaoping step down. And he will fight back against Jiang Qing and Zhang Chunqiao at the Politburo meeting. ”
April 5, 1976: “Deng Xiaoping took a special trip to Tiananmen Square to observe the activities in the square. After returning, he told me through his family that there were many people in the square and he did a good job! But he lied and claimed that he went to the Beijing Hotel to get a haircut. In fact, Deng Xiaoping always asked the chefs from Beijing Hotel to go to his home for haircuts.”
August 5, 1988: “I met Yaobang again. Yaobang said that Xiaoping is a person who burns bridges when crossing rivers. You should be careful. At the same time, Yaobang revealed another major event to me, saying that this was his most shameful event. , I feel sorry for my conscience if I don’t speak out.
In April 1980, we used the excuse of purging “three types of people” to trick 24 cadres from the Beijing Municipal Public Security Department at the section and subdivision levels into secretly shooting them in Dali, Yunnan. At that time, we even sent Wang Zhen to watch at the scene. I asked, why were they shot secretly, and what crime did they commit? Yaobang said that they had evidence at that time that Xiaoping and I were the behind-the-scenes commanders of the April 5th Incident in 1976.
In addition, some people also have evidence that Deng Rong and other members of the high-ranking cadres’ linkage were the murderers of Bian Zhongyun, the vice principal of the Girls’ Middle School Affiliated to Beijing Normal University, on August 5, 1966. Of course, some people also have evidence that members of the joint forces killed a large number of so-called “five black categories” people in Daxing County, Beijing, in August 1966. I said, I know about this. Weren’t the masterminds of the murder, Gao Fuxing and Hu Defu, sentenced at that time? Yaobang said, yes, but Gao Fuxing and Hu Defu suddenly recanted their confessions in September 1975, saying that it was members of the United Nations who had committed the crime. They were wronged. But in September 1975, Comrade Xiaoping was already a member of the Politburo Standing Committee and suppressed the matter.
In 1983, Xiaoping instructed me to rehabilitate Gao Fuxing and Hu Defu, which I did. However, several cadres from the Beijing Municipal Public Security Department secretly tipped off the families of these “Black Category Five” personnel. As a result, these family members started to cause trouble and opposed the redress of Gao Fuxing and Hu Defu. Xiaoping was very angry and ordered me to secretly kill these cadres of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Department as three types of people. I was shocked after hearing this, saying that we are now talking about the rule of law, how could we kill people so casually? The Gang of Four had never done this before? Yaobang said, so I feel guilty. But I have instructed that these 24 cadres be treated as deaths in the line of duty, and their families have also been given pensions. Five of the cadres were also awarded the title of martyr. ”
August 6, 1988: “Yaobang said that he regretted one more thing. Anyone who wrote to him to attack Deng Xiaoping would be forwarded to the public security organs, demanding strict investigation and punishment, and informing him of the results of the investigation. As a result, more than 300 people were arrested. Sentenced, more than 60 of them committed suicide.”
