Zhang Bing’sQualified,Good or badHalf and half. His “five small faces” are of noble appearance, and his “walking like a snake” is of fierce appearance. I don’t know what happened to Zhang Bing in the end.destinyIs it good or bad?
Yuan Gongwas a famous fortune-teller in the Ming Dynasty. He was the king of Yan at that time.Zhu DiAfter reading his fortune, he said: “The King of Yan is walking like a dragon and walking like a tiger, and the horn of the sun reaches the sky. He is the Emperor of Taiping. When he is over forty years old and his beard grows past his navel, he can ascend to the throne.” Later, Zhu Di proclaimed himself emperor at the age of forty-two. .
Yuan Zhongche is Yuan Gong’s son. He has learned his father’s fortune-telling skills since he was a child, and his eyesight is also extremely accurate. When the King of Yan was stationed in the fiefdom of Beiping, he hosted a banquet for local civil and military officials and asked Yuan Zhongche to read the faces of these officials. When he saw the face of the chief envoy Zhang Bing, he said that he had a “square face and a walk like a snake.”
“Face” refers to a square face, and “five small” refers to the head, eyes, ears, mouth, and abdomen. “Taiqing Shenjian” says: “If the five small shapes are upright and without defects and all are small, it is a noble appearance.” Ye. “Zhang Bing’s appearance is noble, but he “walks like a snake”, that is, when he walks, his head, hands, and feet move in a folded shape, which is called snake walking. “Ma Yi Xiangfa” says: “The steps are like snakes, poisonous and lifeless.” It can be seen that Zhang Bing’s appearance is auspicious, and there is auspiciousness in it.
Zhang Bing was a native of Zezhou (now Jincheng City, Shanxi Province). During the Hongwu period of Zhu Yuanzhang, the emperor of the Ming Dynasty, he was promoted to the right minister of the Ministry of Industry due to his merit. After the death of Taizu, Huizong Zhu Yunwen succeeded to the throne. In order to consolidate the centralization of power, in the early years of Jianwen (AD 1399), he issued an edict to “cut down the vassals” in order to take back the rights of the vassal kings in various places assigned by Taizu. King Zhu Di of Yan was dissatisfied and raised his troops to resist on the grounds of “Qing Jun’s side”. This is what is known in history as the “Jingnan Disaster”.
At that time, Emperor Hui appointed Zhang Bing as the envoy to Peiping and Xie Gui as the envoy to the capital, responsible for the military and political affairs of Peiping, and issued secret orders to prepare for the attack on King Yan. The King of Yan claimed to be ill and had not left the palace for a long time. Zhang Bing and Xie Gui knew that there must be a fraud, so they deployed the city’s guards and soldiers to guard the nine city gates and prepared to capture the King of Yan.
Unexpectedly, Zhang Bing’s envoy Li Youzhi secretly reported the army’s deployment to King Yan so that King Yan could take precautions in advance. On July 6, the first year of Jianwen, the imperial envoys came to arrest the officials and family members of Prince Yan’s palace. King Yan pretended to obey the emperor’s order and tied up the officials and family members in the court, preparing to hand them over to the envoys. Zhang Bing and Xie Gui didn’t know this was a conspiracy, so they were lured to Duanlimen to receive them, but were captured by the ambush set by King Yan. King Yan persuaded them to surrender, but they refused to surrender until death and died in the line of duty. See “History of Ming Dynasty·Biography of Zhang Bing”
